Member Meeting Minutes Summary: May 14th
Meeting Introduction and Facility Updates
- Two new members, Jason and Cole, were introduced.
- The president expressed excitement about improvements in the vent room.
- All 3D printers are up and running well.
- Trogdor (the laser cutter) is mostly working but is undergoing a “brain enhancement.” Users should note that Trogdor's power levels are different due to a more powerful laser power supply, so settings may need adjustment.
- Currently, Trogdor uses an Arduino Uno, which handles vectors well but is slow with rastering images due to limited processing power.
- The intention is to replace the Arduino with a 32-bit controller and run “gerbil howl” (an advanced GRBL firmware) over the summer to improve rastering speed. The priority was getting the machine operational.
Member Check-ins and Project Discussions
- Various members were present, and there was a general check-in.
- Discussion about Trogdor's current state: it's cutting well but is slow at rastering due to the Arduino's limitations in crunching numbers. The goal is to improve its rastering speed.
Leadership Meeting and Elections
- A five to six-minute break was announced before the official leadership meeting, which would start promptly at 8:30.
- The leadership meeting will discuss the election process.
- The current president announced that he is not allowed to be president in the coming term and has campaigned for Tim to take the position. Tim has agreed to run for president.
- The meeting concluded with the president going on speaker mute, and further updates would be provided at 8:30.
