Member Meeting Minutes Summary: December 3rd
General Discussion and Initiatives
Twitch Charity Month: The makerspace is participating in a Twitch charity month. By clicking a button on the Twitch channel and selecting the lab, a donation will be made.
Space Mouse Project: A member is working on a 250-dollar space mouse, which is taking a month to build and involves updates, parts, and plastic pieces. The member hopes it will work soon.
Trade War and Supplies: The meeting brought up the likelihood of a “trade war” and suggested that members should be proactive in finding inexpensive materials or alternatives for crafts and supplies. A thread might be started to list such resources.
Safety and Community
Post-Holiday Season: Members are advised to continue observing isolation if feeling ill after the winter holiday season.
Unsafe Behaviors: If unsafe behaviors are observed or a member feels uncomfortable, they should contact leadership. Safety is paramount to ensure a safe space for everyone.
Financials
Account Status: All four current accounts were reviewed.
Payments Made: Taxes (City and school districts), current rent, and current internet bills have all been paid and cleared the bank.
Current Balance: Approximately $25,000 in change is currently in the accounts.
Financial Goal: The organization aims for a financially stable makerspace.
Area Hosts and Board Operations
Area Host Expectations: A discussion was held regarding the general expectations for area hosts, beyond just specific locations. This includes defining their roles, responsibilities, commitment levels, and how these may vary by area.
Randall (Stitch Lab): Randall, the area host for Stitch Lab, was expected to continue, but his availability for the question could not be confirmed during the meeting.
Online Working Meetings: The board will hold online working meetings through the Discord board channel.
Unanimous Board Action: If the board decides to act unanimously within the Discord channel, they can do so without requiring a special meeting (which normally requires 72 hours advance notice).
