### Thickness Planer - Ridgid Model TP13002

#### Dust Collection

It's very important to connect the 4" dust collection hose to the Planer dust output port when using. Using the collector will greatly reduce the amount of saw dust and that escapes. At this point not all of the dust will get collected. But every little bit does help.

**NOTE:** The Thickness Planer can plug into the same extension cord as the big red Bauer dust collector. It's important to start the Bauer unit before starting the Planer due to power draw requirements.

#### Thickness Planer basics

Couple things:

* take a small amount of material for each pass, 1/32 inch to 1/16 inch. Use multiple passes, taking off a small amount each pass.

* Don't run a board through the same height setting twice as it may cause cupping (snipe) at the ends of your material.

* Only wood should be run through the machine without first checking via discord.

* If your material is warped, a thickness planer will not fix the warp. It will make the material the same thickness throughout the warpage. Use the jointer to level out one side first, then use that as the bottom going into the thickness planer.
